Helping Your Loved One Accept Help

Watching a loved one struggle with addiction is painful. Often, they may be in denial about the severity of their condition. Our professional interventionists help families plan and execute a structured, loving conversation to encourage their loved one to accept treatment.

How Our Intervention Process Works

We do not believe in “ambush” tactics. Our model is based on love, concern, and firm boundaries.

Pre-Intervention Planning: We educate the family on addiction and rehearse the intervention.

The Intervention: A mediated conversation where family members express their love and concern without judgment.

Immediate Transport: If the individual accepts help, we arrange immediate transport to our facility.

Support for Families

Addiction affects the whole family. Whether or not your loved one accepts help immediately, we provide counseling and support to help family members set healthy boundaries and prioritize their own well-being.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if my loved one refuses treatment during the intervention?

While we cannot force an adult into treatment, a successful intervention is about more than just immediate acceptance. Our interventionists help your family establish healthy boundaries and consequences. Often, the seed planted during the intervention leads the individual to seek help shortly after, once they realize the family system has changed.

Is an intervention an ambush?

No. The 'Hollywood' style of aggressive confrontation is not effective. We use a model of 'Invited Conversation' rooted in love and concern. The goal is to lower the individual's defenses so they can hear how much you care, rather than feeling attacked.

Can we do an intervention without a professional?

Addiction creates volatile emotions. A professional interventionist acts as a neutral mediator to keep the conversation on track, de-escalate conflict, and ensure the focus remains on the solution (treatment) rather than past grievances.

What happens immediately after they say yes?

Logistics are handled in advance. We pre-arrange admission to Addiction Recovery Center so there is no delay. Once your loved one accepts help, our team facilitates immediate, safe transport to our facility to begin the medical detox process.

Who should participate in the intervention?

We recommend a small, unified group of 3 to 6 people who have a significant relationship with the individual (spouses, parents, adult children, close friends). Our interventionist will help you determine who will be most influential in encouraging recovery.
